The Live Room

The Live Room (adjoining the control room) is approximately 550 square feet and specifically designed for live Music recording.  Half of the room is acoustically absorbent and half is reflective which gives it a varied sound and is particularly suited to recording drums and other acoustic instruments.  The room can be easily adjusted with five acoustic screens with both reflective and absorbent sides.

The Live Room houses the studios keyboard collection.  Which includes two upright pianos, a Hammond rotary organ with Lesley cabinet, a Rhodes piano,  a MiniMoog, a MultiMoog, a Roland Juno - 106 and a Korg Polysix.

The Live Room also has glass sliding doors to the control room and the Large Booth so everyone can be easily seen.

Guitar amps can be hired

Schreiber ‘TAC’ Piano

great sparkly honky tonk sound tuned down a semitone

Hupfeld Upright Piano

expensive sounding

A Hammond Organ with Leslie Rotating Speaker Cabinet is fantastic to fill out a mix.

There are loads of synths to explore.  From the great classics like the Minimoog, Multimoog and Roland Juno to the more modern Roland JV.  The Rhodes piano is a classic piece of 70’s kit championed by the likes of the Small Faces. Put through a Fender Twin of the same era ( which we also have and has been used in situ recently by the likes of Jamie Cullum) it gives the Rhodes a distorted edge, synonymous with the cutting edge bands of the 60’s and 70’s replicated by the contemporary artists of today.

The location of the adjoining booths makes it easy to isolate guitar amps, bass amps, vocalists or other instruments from the live room.

Patch panels are spread across the live room to prevent trailing cables.

Our powerful Headphone amps provide 2 mono and 2 stereo mixes or 6 mono mixes to the rooms which can be split many times providing  6 pairs of headphones.

Due to its size and acoustic excellence  the live room has been used as a location for television productions and film sets by the likes of Endemol and Channel 4, and was the chosen location for Bloc Party’s full rehearsals for The Electric Proms - with a choir of twenty one!

Don’t take our word for it.  Arrange a visit and see for yourself!

There is also a chill out room in the studio with cable TV, a fridge, microwave and Tea and coffee facilities.
